GODFREY DREHER, SR.
The Godfrey Dreher Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution serves Lexington County and surrounding communities by preserving and promoting our Revolutionary heritage. Chartered in 2010, the chapter is named for Godfrey Dreher Sr., an early Lexington District pioneer who built Dreher’s Fort during the Cherokee War of 1759–1760 to protect frontier families. During the American Revolution, he also supported the Patriot cause by supplying flour, corn, beef, pork, and other provisions that sustained the Continental Army and militia. His courage, leadership, and commitment to liberty make him a worthy chapter namesake. Today, our members honor Patriot ancestors through education, historic preservation, veterans’ recognition, youth programs, and community service while welcoming men who can prove descent from a Revolutionary War Patriot to join our fellowship.
