SCSSAR Robert Anderson Chapter member Ethan Price wrote a successful $50,000 grant to Am 250 to build a bronze Statue of Rev War heroine Dicey Langston which was given to the town of Traveler's Rest to install in a park. The Mayor's office is coordinating a dedication.
250th Anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan's Island
Our chapter will be marching on Carolina Day, which will be celebrated this year on Saturday, June 27th. We welcome all Compatriots who wish to join us. From 1-3 July, we will be participating in the Revolutionary City at Marion Square: The Revolutionary City There will be tents set up for various groups to showcase 18th Century crafts, skills, etc. One tent will be used to promote the C.A.R., DAR, and SAR. Compatriots will find this a fitting activity to mark our 250th Anniversary.
Dedication will occur with patriotic ritual and period musket fire
Meeting begins at Noon at the Palmetto Club. The speaker is Norm Rickman will speak on Fort Moultrie, The Battle of Sullivan's Island and four new members are planned to be inducted. June 27 is the 250th anniversary of the battle which led to our annual Carolina Days celebration.
